Our athletes organise a 12-hours beach volley tournament in Ankaran for Emergency
1. - beach volley; Ankaran (Slovenia); at the Sveta Katerina beach in Ankaran a group of our volleyball players organised the 2nd edition of the 12-hours long beach volley tournament. Within this initiative there is a fundraising action to raise money for the humanitarian association Emergency. The event has been successful.

Skiroll, World Championship: David wins silver, Mateja Bogatec bronze and 4th place among teams
31.8./2.9. - skiroll; Oroslavje (Croatia); World Championship; Mladina's athletes were successful again. David Bogatec ranked second in sprint and lost the gold medal for only 0,001 seconds. The winner was Alessio Berlando. Mateja Bogatec ranked third behind Swedish athlete Magnusson and Croatian Stepančič. Mateja ranked fourth in the teams' competition, behind Sweden, Russia and Croatia.

Ping pong, 24th Kras Cup: Duga Resa first ahead of Great Britain, Kras ZKB sixth
31.8/2.9. - ping pong; Zgonik; at the sports center in Zgonik ended the international tournament 24th Kras Cup, organised by AŠK Kras. The Croatian team Duga Rese won for the second time in a row, ahead of Great Britain and Hungarian team Szekszard, results: 4. Tis Zagreb (Cro), 5. Topolčany (Svk), 6. Kras BCC (Ita), 7. Vrtojba (Slo), 8. Arrigoni Izola (Slo).

2. - volleyball; S. Giovanni al Natisone; at the Sgan Volley Team Trophy the team Sloga Tabor, who will play in the C league, ranked 3rd. The tournament was won by Faedis (C league), who won against Bibione (B2 league) in the final match. For the team Bibione play also former Sloga's players Stopar and Vatovac.

1./2. - cycling; young Devin's cyclists participated to the national team tournament in Genova.

Cycling; Friendship Marathon from Ljubljana to Lonjer: last time across the border
2. - cycling; Lonjer; 370 athletes from Italy and Slovenia participated to the Friendship Marathon from Ljubljana to Lonjer, organised by KD Rog from Ljubljana and KK Adria from Lonjer. This edition has been a historical one, because the cyclists went across the border for the last time, since the crossing between Italy and Slovenia will be free as of 1st January 2008.

Archery, Regional match in Bazovica: excellent organisation and victory of Katja Ražem
2. - archery; Bazovica; at the renewed field in Bazovica, Zarja organised a regional match, which was very successful. The only athlete of the Zarja team was Katja Ražem, who ranked first among members.

2. - athletics; Vittorio Veneto; our marcher Fabio Ruzzier (Atletico Gorizia) won at the 10 km march with 49:36,2 and became Trevenezie's absolute champion. This is fourth Ruzzier's victory at the competition.

Volleyball, Matej Černic goes to Moscow to the European championship in two years to Dinamo
3. - volleyball; Rim; our player Matej Černic, who had some problems with his knee, has been authorised to play for the Italian national team at the European tournament in Moscow. Matej signed also a two year contract with Dinamo Moscow.

Athletics, march, Veterans' World Championship: Fabio Ruzzier wins silver in the 5 km march
6. - athletics; Riccione; Veterans' World Championship; our athlete Fabio Ruzzier, who runs for the Slovenian national team, won the silver medal in the 5 km march with 23:37,50. He ranked behind the favourite, four years younger Russian athlete Ovčinikov (23:23,55). Third ranked the South-African Carl Meyer (23:49,95).

6. - Gorica; in the white hall of the Municipal building of Gorizia there was the presentation of the traditional Soška regata, which will take place on Sunday, 9th September.

6. - volleyball; Montichiari (Brescia); at the press conference for the presentation of the Monticchiari team, which plays in the A1 league, coach Velasco expressed his enthusiastic comment about our athlete Loris Mania. He said: "... beside other things, we have bought two players such as Pesenti and Mania, who are very solid in their roles, experienced, and technically well-prepared."

In Trieste there was the presentation of the Sports school "Run, jump, throw"
7. - Trst; KK Bor, OD Bor, PK Bor, Slovensko planinsko društvo Trst and Športna šola Trst will organise in the new season for the pupils of local elementary schools a new form of sports school under the motto RUN, JUMP, THROW. They will teach the basics of sports and offer swimming lessons, Saturdays on skiis and naturalistic excursions.

9. - archery; Castenaso (Bologna); Zarja's archer Katja Ražem ranked 24th at the Italian championship (in the Olympic speciality 70 m round) with 548 points. The victory went to Natalia Valejeva from Capri, who is also the World Champion. In the various categories participated 232 athletes.

8./9. - skiroll; Pragelato (Turin); Italian Championship; Mladina's athletes David and Mateja Bogatec won the Italian sprint championship (250 m). Also other Mladina's athletes performed excellently: Niki Hrovatin ranked first, Luka Ghira ranked first, Jana Prašelj second. 9. - kayak; Podgora; the traditional 22nd Soška regata, organised by KK Šilec and KK Soške elektrarne, recorded the highest number of participants in history. The weather was marvellous and the participants enjoyed themselves.

Volleyball, Sandra Vitez will not play at the European championship
11. - volleyball; Kontovel; our athlete Sandra Vitez, who plays for the Italian national team, has not been chosen among the players, who will play at the European championship in Brussels, from the 20th to the 30th September. Coach Barbolini included only senior and experienced players. Sandra, who will play for the Sassuolo team, still remains among the potential players of the national team.

11. - soccer; Repen; young athletes of Kras' soccer school were very happy when former Byelorussian player and current Kras' coach Alejnikov (picture, in black) visited them. There are nearly 30 players at Kras' soccer school.

13. - ping pong; Slovenia player from Nabrežina, former Kras' player Lisa Ridolfi, will participate to the training course of the Italian national team in Terni and the championship in Bulgaria. From 16th October to 11th November she will participate to three World tour matches Pro Tour in Austria, Germany and France.

Volleyball, Karin Crissani will play for Torriano
15. - volleyball; Gradišče; Sloga's player Karin Crissani, born in 1982, will play for the Torriano team from Gradišče ob Soči in the new season. Last year the team was promoted to the B1 League, and this year she will play as standard passer.

15. - volleyball; Štandrež; in the first round of the Regional Cup Val Imsa (C league) won against Olympia (D league) 3:0 (25:21, 25:22, 26:24). Val's most effective players were Ombrato with 17 and Lavrenčič with 13, Olympia's were Maraž with 9 and Terčič with 7. In this group plays also Fincantieri Tržič and Pav Natisonia.

Basketball, Italian Cup: Bor loses three matches
14./16. - basketball; Trst; Italian Cup; Bor Radenska, coached by Andrea Mura, lost the first official home match against favourite Corno di Rosazzo 57:72. Then they lost the second match against Codroipo 67:78 and the third against Virtus Udine 81:86 (Madonia 20, Burni and Kralj 18).

ŠD Kontovel 40th Anniversary a huge success; Uskok Rijeka wins in basketball, Luka Koper in volleyball
15./16 - Kontovel; ŠD Kontovel's 40th Anniversary Celebration, which took place on the outdoor field, has been very successful. Many locals, guests and Kontovel's players participated. The main speech was held by team's president Marko Ban, the event was hosted by Evgen Ban. There were also two international youth tournaments in the Under 17 category in basketball and volleyball. The basketball tournament was won by Uskok Rijeka, Jadran's team ranked third, whereas volleyball's tournament was won by Luka Koper, Kontovel's team was third.

15./16. - skiroll; San Sum (Turkey); World Championship; Mladina's athletes Mateja and David Bogatec concluded in Turkey a tough, but successful season. Mateja ranked second behind Magnusson, who won the Cup. Mateja ranked absolute second. David Bogatec ranked third in sprint and absolute sixth.

15./16. - volleyball; Opčine, Dolina; at the traditional international tournament called Bazovica's Victims Cup, organised by AŠD Sloga, among men won Carnate ahead of Rijeka, Sloga and Logatec, among women the Croatian team Grobničan ahead of Prevalje, Sloga List and Klagenfurt.

16. - athletics: Bled; our athlete Fabio Ruzzier won the third race of Slovenia's Grand Prix with a time of 29:47,0 ahead of Vlado Veršce (Bizeljsko) with 29;50,0. Ruzzier is still ranked first at the Grand Prix. The next race will be in Sežana (17.11.) and the last in Koper (15.12.).

Volleyball: Sloga's player Ambrož Peterlin will play for Buia
22. - volleyball; Trst; Sloga's player Ambrož Peterlin, born in 1985, will play in the 2007/08 season for the team of Buia, which plays in the Regional C League like Sloga. Ambrož studies in Cormons and last year he travelled 22,000 km in order to get his degree in play volleyball.

22. - Bazovica; with a successful cultural and sports celebration there was the inauguration of the new Sports center in Bazovica, which is a true "diamond" at provincial level. The main speech was held by AŠD Zarja's president Mirijan Žagar; among the numerous guests there were also Trieste's mayor Roberto Dipiazza and representatives of many political and sport organisation.

Mountain biking, Christian Leghissa absolute second at the Veneto Trophy
23. - mountain biking; Adria (Rovigo); our cyclist Christian Leghissa, who races for the OVAM Vittorio Veneto team, ranked third in the Master Category at the last race for the Veneto Trophy among 60 cyclists, thus ranking absolute second behind Crivellari (Team ADV Padova).

Athletics, Fabio Ruzzier wins in Varaždin
23. - athletics; Varaždin (Hrvaška); our marcher Fabio Ruzzier, who races for the AK Koper team, won the Croatian 20 km March Championship with a time of 1.39:14,0 ahead of Slovenian athlete Vladimir Vršče (Bizeljsko) 1.48:30,0 and Croatian marcher Saša Radotič (Zadar) 1.53:34,0.

Chess, Pino Lakovič and Tjaša Oblak champions
23. - chess; Lonjer; at the cultural and sport center there was the 1st "Zamejski" Championship. To the event participated 22 chess players and three representatives of the Slovenian community living in Italy. Among men the victory went to Pino Lakovič, among women to Tjaša Oblak. Among the participants there were many young players.

Basketball, Boris Tavčar's Memorial to the Kraški zidar team of Sežana, Bor Radenska second; Miljo Gombač Memorial: Servolana wins ahead of Jadran
22./23. - Trst; Kraški zidar from Sežana won the 14th Boris Tavčar's Memorial ahead of Bor Radenska (82:65). Third ranked Pall. Nuova Gorizia, who won against Trieste's Pall. Acegas 86:72.
At the Under 17 Miljo Gombač Memorial Tournament Servolana won the final match against Jadran 86:73, while Barcolana beat Bor 86:82 and ranked third.

24. - volleyball; Rim; our player Sandra Vitez, who is a member of the Italian National Team and of the Sassuolo A1 League, will be awarded the Arnaldo Eynard award for the best young player of the past A2 League. This is another great result for our athlete.

26. - basketball; Trst; at the Stadion 1. maja in Trst there was the presentation of Bor Radenska's main team, who will begin the fourth season in the Basketball National C League.

26. - Trst; at only 36 years of age (he was born in 1971) died former Sokol's and Jadran's player Ivan Lesizza, who was much beloved among players and local citizens of Nabrežina, and who always tried to help sport and cultural associations.

School sport, Zois' handball players won against Pescara (20:15), but won no medal
25./27. - School sport; Lignano; Regional finals, second phase; Žiga Zois handball players, led by professor Sonja Milič and assistant coach Ivan Kerpan, won the final match against Pescara 20:15 (Regent 8 goals, Kerpan and Kuret both 2), but did not reached the semi-finals. They lost the second match against Asti 19:20.

27. - Opčine; at the Zadružna kraška banka conference hall there was the presentation of the "Športna šola Polet", who organises the sport activities for young boys and girls between 3 and 11 years of age. The introductory speech was held by president Adriano Sosič, the main report was presented by Andrej Vremec.

Among the 700 pictures there was many our "azzurri", such as Sonja Milič, Boris Košuta, Samo Kokorovec,Tanja Romano, Sandra Vitez and many others.
